# Reges Code > Reges Code is a free, local-first AI code editor for Windows made by RegesCore (LIKE A KING INC., New York). It runs local models first (LM Studio, Ollama, vLLM, llama.cpp, Jan, Lemonade), falls back automatically to free cloud models (the OpenRouter free router and free models) without ever asking for credits, includes Reges Swarm (teams of models in pipeline, parallel or debate mode), and adds an honesty check that flags agent replies claiming work no tool actually did. It updates itself in the background with SHA-256 verified updates. Local models and free cloud models cost nothing. ## Key facts - Free while in beta. Free and local models cost nothing; it never switches to a paid model on its own. - Local-first: with a local model, your code never leaves your computer. - Free fallback order: OpenRouter free router, other free models, then your local model. When the OpenRouter daily free cap is reached it goes straight to the local model. - Reges Swarm: architect, coder, reviewer, security and judge roles; free and loaded local models only unless paid ones are allowed. - Honesty check: if a reply claims files were created but the turn wrote no files and ran no commands, Reges Code says so under the reply. - Built-in MCP servers; Open VSX extensions. - Linux and macOS builds are in progress. A terminal CLI ships with the next release. - The beta installer is not code-signed yet; Windows SmartScreen may ask you to choose More info, then Run anyway.
